It's embarrassing enough that Democrats held their 2012 convention in North Carolina, a state that Mitt Romney will probably carry. Adding to the "uh oh" factor: the Charlotte host committee raising money for the Democrats' convention has come up $12.5 million short of its original fundraising goal, according to election filings from the FEC made public Oct. 15.
Of the amounts still owed to public and private venues and vendors, the host committees owe $161,000 to the City of Charlotte — $133,000 for convention center operations and $28,000 for volunteer shuttles. The Charlotte Observer reports that, in the past, city officials have promised that taxpayers won’t be on the hook for these expenses, but is there any guarantee?
Dan Murrey, the host committee CEO, told the Observer that neither the Obama campaign nor the Democratic National Committee would help but up the short fall.
And the Democrats replied, You only make one mistake. You trusted us !

The Charlotte in 2012 Host Committee has started to contact vendors with repayment details for the $2.1 million it still owes to companies and individuals for goods and services provided during the Democratic National Convention.
Back when cell phones were rare and calls cost a lot, Gore borrowed a phone from a friend of mine (she was doing his hair and make-up for a TV appearance.) He promised his staff would pay her. She never heard from them.

When are the cities going to learn? These kind of guys will stiff them every time.
All of them should tell the dems to take a hike.
They can just have a virtual convention online.
There would be a ‘boo’ button for when they talk about Republicans, God, guns, and spending cuts and a ‘yay’ button you could press when they talk about abortion, gay “marriage”, higher taxes on the “wealthy”, and increased welfare and “disability for all”.
You could purchase a delegate or a person in the virtual crowd and control them with your little buttons. You could throw food, paper, and garbage all over the floor and trash the virtual city without anyone complaining.
Does Charlotte think the GOP majority in the NC Legislature is willing to pay?
Let Charlotte pay for its stupid convention!
