Up from the floor. The cellar is from 1860. Field stone walls and someone cemented the floor but it has cracks and flows right up. Well.......actually they look like Old Faithful during heavy rain.
It must be a spring. We had one under our old house and when we lost power during heavy rain it would just rise up and flood the basement.
