I am posting some backround from a journal he and his lovely wife are keeping on the CaringBridge website.
If you would like to get updates, feel fre to click through to CaringBridge.com and sign up with nothing more than an email address. A 'throw-away' if you like.
I have not asked him how he feels about me posting this but that is immaterial. I'm posting it and if he doesn't like it he can kiss my arse.
On Sept. 11, 2012 Scott went into the hospital because of a pain in his lower back that he believed was kidney stones, due to family history.
To say kidney stones would be welcomed is putting it mildly. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer that had spread to his liver, making it a stage 4 cancer diagnosis also known as Distant. He has been poked and prodded and tested since then waiting for one of the tests to come back and tell him "hey Scott, we're sorry it is all a terrible mistake, it's just a pulled muscle".
Unfortunately that has not happened. Given his choices of chemo to extend his life but with no hope for a cure, and possibly feel miserable due to the treatments, Scott decided to start researching ( once an engineer always an engineer- thank God) alternative treatments to possibly cure his cancer or at the very least extend his life for as long as possible and not feel horrible. Sadly, the US does not have alternative cancer treatment options ( a story for another day).
With a suggestion from his boss at work Scott researched alternative cancer treatments all over the world and has concluded that Germany is his best hope for success with the second option of returning to the US for a Clinical trial at Dana Farber in Boston, which he is a perfect candidate for. At this writing Scott is due for one final test in the US of his liver and with God's will, will be off to Germany on or October 14th for phase one of his soon to be successful treatment. I started this site so Lina and Scott wouldn't be inundated with having to repeat their story and add stress to Scott. We are so blessed to have one of the best families in the whole world, not just immediate but extended as well.
We know we are all loved and cared about like no other and the best thing we can do for Scott is pray. Feel free to post here Scott will be welcoming your messages and hopefully updating us regularly with good news from Germany. One last thing, I picked this background for the web site because when Scott is all better we are going on vacation to a tropical island, basking in the sun, riding jet skis and parasailing til our hearts content. Xoxo
Prayer for you and your wife as you pursue answers. May the Lord accompany you on this journey.
Prayers up.
Praying!
Prayers up!
Prayers for God’s blessings on all.
Lord Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer, be with this man Thy servant Scott, and grant him complete healing. We pray in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in the company of St. Jude, worker of miracles. Amen.
