Thanks all for the advice - She got on the 6:50 Metro North train to Poughkeepsie. We live further up the Hudson River Valley about an hour north of there so my husband went to get her at the train station. I am very relieved!! The idea of a 20 year old in NYC if the electricity is out - possible looting ,etc.!! (Shudder) Thanks again for the kind advice!!
PS - My husband was also angry at Bloomberg’s speech - feeling that the tone was rather cavalier, to say the least.
Oh, I am so relieved. Even if the storm is less than some think it will be, she is safe from the vermin who will take advantage of any situation.
She made the right decision.
I am hoping for the best for your family. God bless and keep you.
Thanks for the update. I’m glad she will be home with family. Many people in high rise apartments have no imagination about what life would be like without power. No water. No refrigerators. No elevators. No heat. No toilets. No light. Those are just the immediate problems. The secondary are when people lose it and the wolves come out.
When is his tone NOT cavalier? My daughter left Hoboken at 330 to come home before it gets messy and dangerous down there. Talking 8-11’ storm surge, and as it’s directly opposite Zone A in NY, will experience the same conditions. Good luck to your daughter getting home as well.
