Whatever happened to rinsing and filling milk bottles and soda bottles with tap water. I have six gallons all full and stashed away. Cost almost nothing.
Ha ha...way too practical. :)

all night long ...Just hope that isn't the song that gets stuck in your head for the entire power outage.
That's something for the prepper threads - what do when the power's out and you've got an earworm.

I believe Jamacians have had a little more experience with hurricanes than people in the NE.
I have had to evacuate twice in past ten years...and a good thing both times. It isn't fun to be without power for three weeks with trees on the house.
The only intelligent attitude to have about a hurricane is to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. You have to prepare long before you know where it's going. Like insurance, you have it hoping you never need it!

My daughter got one of the last flights out of JFK last night. They had canceled all but 10 flights and hers was one of the ten.
I picked her up at the airport at 12:30 this morning. But at least she’s safe home.

I believe Jamacians have had a little more experience with hurricanes than people in the NE.My thought, exactly. Also, most people in the U.S. have more personal, business and investment property concerns than residents in Jamaica.

I’m here in CNY and it’s as still as still can be. We’ve had unrelenting heavy fog for DAYS now.
The massive storm from the midwest was lumbering towards us, stopped within a couple miles of us and started BACKING UP! I’ve never seen that before. So right now, we’re between systems and there’s not a breath of air moving out there.
The winds are supposed to pick up later today. Can any FReepers out there report on what the winds are doing in their area?
