It seems to me that the failure to protect our people in Benghazi is simple politics. Obama did not want to upset the Muslim Brotherhood by inserting US military in a rescue attempt. Obama has decided to back the Brotherhood and keeping on their good side was, in Obama’s mind, worth the lives of the four Americans. He may have been further influenced by the fact that the Ambassador and his guard were white.
I doubt anything about Libya was simple. At first I regarded the “Radicals Kidnap Stevens/October Surprise” theory as way out there. As more facts come out, I’m hard put to come up with any other theory that explains Obama’s actions (and lack thereof).
