You and RoosterRedux have nailed what I believe to be the real story. Trump did have some real information. Mitt probably told him to hold off for fear of some adverse backlash reaction. Mitt has momentum in his favor and playing the wrong card could upset it.

Trump is a lot smarter, media-wise, than he is being given credit for - BUT, he cannot control the lack of media coverage about his offer...or Can he?

Do not overlook the fact of who he is and who he knows. I look for this to get out there...slowly...but it'll get to the public.

Now a smart move by Romeny, if that is possible given the sheer dumb-a**edness of the DNC...is to publicly announce that he. Mitt Romeny, will match the Donalds' offer.
Just a causal mention of this during a speech or two...maybe during a presser.
