Gloria Allred & client arrive in Canton MA
Client is Maureen Stemberg Sullivan, ex-wife of Staples founder Tom Stemberg.
Allred & Boston Globe are moving to remove gag order on Stemberg Sullivan, and release Mitt Romney testimony.
I doubt it. Most people watch MSM news and they won’t spend more than a second on those emails about Libya.
An Obama voter actually axed “who is Ben Gazzi”
“Did you see Greta’s story about the e-mails last...oh, look! Squirrel!”
TMZ is just a lefty hack bunch. For this story to have any legs whatsoever, the peddlers of this fertilizer need to have a credible and independent source that can show that Romney’s testimony regarding the value of Staples two years before it went public was substantially wrong or misleading. I seriously doubt they have that, or this would have been trotted out a long time ago in multiple Staples shareholder lawsuits.
Hear, HEAR!
Mitt Romney LIED under oath when he testified in the divorce of his good friend and screwed the friend's wife out of a lot of money in the process ... so claims the ex-wife of Staples' founder Tom Stemberg.
Multiple sources connected with the divorce tell TMZ ... during Tom's uber nasty divorce case with ex-wife Maureen, Mitt Romney gave a deposition and testified during the trial that Staples was worth virtually nothing. Romney testified that the company was worth very little and Tom was a dreamer and "the dream continues."
Romney characterized the Staples stock as "overvalued," adding, "I didn't place a great deal of credibility in the forecast of the company's future."
Partly as a result of Romney's testimony, Maureen got relatively little in the divorce, but we're told just weeks after the divorce ended, Romney and Tom went to Goldman Sachs and cashed in THEIR stock for a fortune. Short story -- Romney allegedly lied to help his friend and screw the friend's wife over.
And there's more ... Our sources say years later, Maureen, who suffered from MS and had multiple bouts with cancer, got a visit from one of Tom's guys, who gave her papers informing her that Tom was cancelling her health insurance. Our sources say the irony here is that we're told Tom was working as one of then Governor Mitt Romney's chief health care advisers.
Sources tell us ... Tom also got custody of the couple's one child, making allegations of abuse against Maureen. And get this ... in the mid-90s, after the divorce, Tom sent the boy a letter saying, although he loved him, because of issues related to the divorce "it will not be possible for you to be a part of our family for the foreseeable future."
Maureen lost her home in the process and struggled financially.

Some BIG problems with all this. Maureen received 500,000 shares of Staples, and sold 250,000 before it ever went public. She got a pretty penny for those first shares, and if she kept the rest, they were worth up to $9.6 million in the late 1990s boom. I think you can afford your own health insurance for $10 million. Sheesh, what a crock. Hear that ROAR? That is the sound of 300 million Americans YAWNING.
Seems like she was not surrounded by the brilliant legal minds such as Allred at the time. Hopefully they all get stonewalled by the Staples and Stemberg legal teams tomorrow.
Front page readership is in the dumper ~ Axelrod has bigger game in mind ~ namely saving his own butt. His buddies on the Left told him to DO IT and that’s what he’s doing.
There are well known and commonly used methods of valuing a company in the investment banking industry. I am certain that her counsel and her husband’s counsel each had experts testifying as to the value of the shares. This is a tempest in a teapot and will fade from public view unless the gag order is lifted, which is Allred’s real goal. Nothing suits Allred better than to be seen standing next to a “wronged woman,” preferably one who is weeping.
If THIS is it, who cares? This will go over like the Obama Harvard video....
Exactly. Did the wife just accept twhat the shares were worth based on the single testimony of one witness for her husband? I think not...
They will have to play the emotional weeping wronged woman card, and somehow tie that to Romney’s testimony. I guess we will see the weeping and crying and character assassination all over network tv tomorrow night, and nothing about the huge Libya mess.
Well, at least Maureen is still alive, unlike that other guy’s wife who Rimmey killed. /s
Obama’s gonna need a bigger October Surprise than this
Excerpt...
The blogger who asked “Should this wealthy executive’s ex wife get more money?” six years ago noted back then that Stemberg had been busy spreading her story all over the web. At Huffington Post someone using the name Maureen Stemberg has been posting her admiration of Obama, her dislike of the Romneys and “Partner in Crime Mr. Staples” plus disdain for Mormonism. A great many voters have experienced firsthand a bitter, vindictive former spouse who won’t let go. They are sorry creatures most people try to avoid. Unless there is a lot more to this latest permutation of the War on Women attack I expect it be draw only slightly more attention than Sandra Fluke’s recent appearance on behalf of Obama.

Have a good friend who was the attorney for the wife in what was at the time and maybe still is the largest divorce settlement in the nation. The multi billionaire McCaw telecommunication empire. He would talk about having to depose Bill Gates and a whole bunch of other big time big name techies.
His point was same as yours. They call these folks in to corroborate hearsay statements to prove their stories to increase/decrease potential settlements. End of story.
Which is why Trump is doing his little dog and pony show today. The dems have always played this game and finally the other side is playing tit for tat. Not pretty on either side but it is about time. Maybe next election the dems will think twice.
Kind of interesting how this is all happening at about the same time, huh?
Allred states that Mitt offered false testimony when he stated the value. WHich is BS - Ive seen companies jump from $1.00 to $23.00 in a matter of hours, let alone over the course of years when they are building value and working toward an IPO.
A recent example would be Facebook’s IPO price and then the price of the shares when they became available in public trading....astronomical.
Seems to me that Romney could attest to someone’s business character while meaning absolutely nothing about their private behavior which they wouldn’t necessarily know anything about.
The chilling thing is that you are probably right, but also that Alred is targeting young, unmarried female undecided voters, and apparently Alred believes a large percentage of them to have been abused.
I bought Apple Computer for $10/share some years ago. It doubled to $20 so I was happy to take my 100% profit.
Now it's $614.35. Who can I sue?
CBS is the news agency that released the emails.
This is the crux of the motivation. YOU NAILED IT.
PS. I am a longtime member, been lurking for years. I AM CONSERVATIVE . This story has me so worried I just had to post.
