There is no denying that by applying for Israeli citizenship, in defiance of PLO and Hamas warnings, they are actually making clear that they would rather live under Israel than any Arab rule. The Palestinian Authority says it is worried because of the rise in the number of Palestinians from Jerusalem who are seeking Israeli citizenship ...

This doesn’t surprise me. I’ve heard BiBi talk about how tens of thousands of “Palestinians” live in peace and have for many years.

They may be seeking citizenship in order to obtain voting rights. With enough of them, Israel could be voted out of existence, without a shot being fired.

It seems to me that there is an opportunity here for Israel.

If they can create a peaceful Palestinian community in Israel, with the idea of their living under “Israeli rules”, with a reasonably honest local government, Israel might eventually create the seed of a good Palestinian government *outside* of Israel.

That is, imagine, for example, that most of the people in Gaza left to go live in Egypt for some reason. Israel could then “transplant” this “good Palestinian community” to Gaza, with the idea of it having several unique qualities.

1) No non-Israeli Palestinians allowed, and a closed border with Egypt. (This would be to the Israeli Palestinian’s benefit as well, because the other Muslims would want to kill them.)

2) Gaza becomes an “autonomous district” of Israel, in charge of all its own affairs, except with individual rights and liberties protected by Israel. That is, in effect, staying under Israeli law. The idea being to keep their government honest and transparent, and free trade with Israel.

And yes, it could never happen.

There is a downside to this.

As I recall, Palestinian Israelis are about 20% of the voting population.

They vote overwhelmingly for the Socialist and Peace Now political parties.

However, the fact that Palestinians sit side by side with Israeli Jews in the Knesset must be a daily humiliation for Muslim countries.
