Six state senators in the moderate wing of the Kansas Republican Party on Friday endorsed the re-election bid of Topeka Sen. Anthony Hensley, the chamber's top Democrat.

Sen. John Vratil, the Senate's vice president and a Lenexa Republican who chose not to seek re-election in 2012, said Hensley would continue to make policy decisions in the best interests of Kansans.

He’s a regular old Democrat, but the Republicans endorsing him are from the moderate wing of the party. We have three parties here: Democrats, moderate Republicans, and socially conservative Republicans. The Dems and the moderates used to join ranks to get what they wanted. But with recent gains by the social conservatives then the moderates are becoming an endangered species.

We had something similar happen in Tennessee a few years back. It didn’t work out too well for Liberal Republicans in the next election.

Who can forget that despicable, lying sack of sh!+ Don Taxquist? I am still proud of how Tennesse told that scumbag to go play in the street.

Not surprising, these RINOs were the ones we pointed out in our "Retire a RINO" campaign this past August Primary.

These people that regularly team up with the Rats voting to raise taxes and always refuse to work with their GOP team on conservative issues.

As to Vraril, this guy should have been "retired (forcefully if necessary) for absolute conflict of interest: voting to raise taxes "for the schools" when he is a paid attorney for the Shawnee Mission School District.

Unfortunately for me, here in the liberal NE part of Johnson County, KS, my choice is between Kay Wolfe, RINO or democRAT Russell.

I'm truly vexed about whether or to vote for Wolfe or leave the spot blank.

Delhi Rebe is exactly exactly right, Kansas has been a 3 party state for years, with Sam Brownback elected as governor, this has changed everything and the rino’s need to see this and become democRATS as they have always been! Unfortunately, the supreme court has been appointed by rinos and its the liberals “fire wall” against school funding increases and social programs. That’s ‘whats the matter with Kansas” for God’s sake!

The one thing I do not miss by leaving Kansas was the personal property tax statements that always seemed to arrive just before Christmas. My kids both graduated from SM schools some 30 years ago though and at least they were very good at that time.

Yes, you are correct about those property value "assessments" arriving around Christmas though the bills don't come until March.

Even then I look forward to challenging their "assessments" regularly - and more often than not, I win!

it was always understood that we were paying for our excellent schools but as those bills continued going up, test scores flatlined and then legislators voted to "equalize" tax dollars to all school districts throughout KS regardless of costs or needs.

This has produced to skimping on monies needed in wealthier districts, i.e. SM and now Blue Valley.

They started that garbage in Texas. We called it the Robbing Hood plan. Resulted in most all the public schools being below par. My grandkids go to private schools - which is why granny is still working.

Then there is this across our State Line in KC,MO:

How would you pronounce this child's name?

"Le-a"

Leah?? NO
Lee - A?? NOPE
Lay - a?? NO
Lei?? Guess Again.

This child attends a school in Kansas City , Mo.

Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.

It's pronounced "Ledasha".

When the Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said, "the dash don't be silent."

SO, if you see something come across your desk like this please remember to pronounce the dash.
