President Barack Obama, during an interview to be shown on Comedy Central, has responded to a question about his administration's confused communication after the Benghazi attack, by saying: 'If four Americans get killed, its not optimal.'
Obama was speaking to Jon Stewart of The Daily Show for a programme to be broadcast tonight.
Stewart, a liberal whose young audience is full of potential voters prized by the Obama campaign, asked the president about his handling of the aftermath of the Benghazi attack.
Ambassador Chris Stevens, diplomat Sean Smith and security men and former U.S. Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were killed by terrorists on the 11th anniversary of 9/11 - an attack that the White House initially blamed on a spontaneous protest about an anti-Islam movie made in California.
Stewart asked: 'Is part of the investigation helping the communication between these divisions? 'Not just what happened in Benghazi, but what happened within.

'Because I would say, even you would admit, it was not the optimal response, at least to the American people, as far as all of us being on the same page.' Obama responded: 'Here's what Ill say. If four Americans get killed, its not optimal.'

HOW MANY MORE NEED TO DIE BEFORE YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH THE RESULT?
It was a very heartless, but it was also an odd choice of a word.
Optimal is an adjective. I don't Native English speakers typically put adjectives at the end of sentences. (okay, its been just a few years :-) since high school English, but I'm sure I'll be corrected shortly if I'm wrong)
The word itself means 'most favorable or desirable'. The more common use is the form optimum.
So does that mean he thinks it was not desirable, or not satisfactory....as in not sufficient.
Argh! I HATE how he talks out of both sides of his mouth.
Question that has to be asked is who actually talks like this. Stewart uses the word appropriately for the question he asked and Uhbamuh once again decides he needs to sound like smartest guy in room and screws it up.
He might have said, “Well, it didn’t go quite as well as we hoped”.
Obama had hoped for so much more...
Sounds to me as if he means that 4 weren't enough to worry about, maybe a couple hundred, but not just 4. What a jerk!
I wonder how many Americans have to die before obama thinks it is optimal.
Bump
