Is RedState going soft on Discussions about this election?
Check out this thread and see what you think. They seem to be banning all that disagree with the site originators rather than agreeing or disagreeing with policy to the point of banning dissent.
I heard him say the exact same thing on his radio show before the debate. He rarely puts callers on the air, preferring instead to hear himself talk.
Well that’s amazing, because I never watch Morning Joe or go to Red State - but that one trip to Red State yesterday gave me that same queasy feeling I get if I happen to see Morning Joe for a few seconds clicking through the channels.
Dang, it was the same rino stench. I knew it.
It’s very strange but I’ve never been banned from a political website. Wonder why that is? I actually did get banned from a golf site but it was my own fault.
Yeah, you are right. I suspect that this drove the recent changes in the site first place.
It used to be a good place to stop and see well written and informative diaries and commentary (I didn't read it for the "front page" writers, but the user community diaries and commentary); but the new changes (along with the infamous purge several months before) have driven off nearly all the old community to many other sites. It is now populated mostly by disqus trolls and diaries that are rehashes of what can be read on any other site. I rarely look at it anymore, as it has nothing to offer that is different from any other MSM site.
Seems that EE hiched a ride on the shoulders of others to good deals on CNN TV and talk radio gigs, and has now buckled under to make "his" signature website just like any other MSM internet outlet. Essentially, he has now destroyed and/or abandoned the community he helped develop, since he apparently doesn't need them anymore.
Seems a shame, really...
Seems I have heard this same story about Red State website a while back. Is Eric libertarian? That means he’s all over the place, politically and socially.
sombody wants to go to the insider parties and have a shrimp cocktail.
You know, it really did not use to be this way. Unfortunately it seems that the Beltway boys have gained control of this site and are in the process of riding it into the ground - unfortunately for them, just right before a Conservative revolt! They lose, we gain!
Well not really Beltway - more like Peachtrtee. Erickson wants to keep his CNN gig. So he has to be their version of David Brooks and Joe Scarborough.
Well Erik states and did seem to be a Conservative. I really think that being exposed to CNN folks (and the money of course) that he modified his views to present himself as a “reasonable conservative”, ie, someone that they can argue with and he can change his views if needed. That is a shame and it has degraded RedState to no end!
Part of the problem is the moderators - they tend to take the liberal viewpoint and ban anyone that disagrees with them or the founders. They will not change while this is happening. Unfortunately some of the moderators are more interesting in expanding their power rather than actually moderating (power of government).
Hate to say it but are probably right! Really liked Erik’s ideas on the old RedState but he has definitely jumped the shark lately - or his protectors have jumped in protecting him regardless of his comments/actons but when it gets to the point of banning protests against him (minor as I read it), it becomes too much.
No thanks... I want truth and justice from our supposedly Conservative sites! Seems that is missing these days among those that pretend to be Conservative and align with the media.
Red State has comments? Who knew?
Heh...Funny! Actually, no reading Redstate is a good thing these days. They did go from a Conservative site to a Republican site - no loss to society.
I want to add one final point to this thread.
The actions of the moderators at Redstate show what can happen when a Conservative site becomes entangled with the media. When any one of the major contributors is presented as an alternative to the Liberal side, they and their site becomes protective of it’s image with the media. It is unfortunate but understandable. When money is thrown toward these sites, they do have to change or else they would not be welcome to provide commentary. Of course that also changes their attitudes and actions which destroys their original values.
Seems to be a circle of politics at it’s worst but it is the real world. Sure hope that FreeRepublic never goes down that road but from my knowledge and understanding of Jim, thank goodness, that would never happen.
