Tiger. Your statement may turn out to be the fact regarding this insertion by original poster that it is not feasible.
However. Permit me. I have located via. google maps the main building sat photos, but yet unable to able to locate the "safe house".
May I ask you if your aware of the GPS or other coordinate systems as to where the safe house is located?
I have yet to finalize in my mind after viewing the two locations proximity in Benghazi as how I want to drive my mind on this whole case.
If I ask to much forgive me. In no way do I hold you accountable for that info. And don't feel like if you are willing to provide that info, it has to be immediate.
Time is getting late on the east coast. Some of us at close to 1:40AM Thursday are probably ready to hit the sack.
And lastly. If no response comes forth. That is fine as well.
Bottom line from my end. I try all forms of text searches in both google maps as well as google earth to locate both facilities with negative results.

I don't know exactly where the "annex" was from the main consulate building but I have heard it said that it was about a half mile away. In the State Dept. briefing there was a description of the escape from the main building to the "annex" which named some directions and streets. It wasn't an easy half mile trip.
Background Briefing on Libya
I have to agree with those who have said that this doesn't sound like a plausible kidnapping attempt. It would be a lot easier to intercept a vehicle than to send the estimated 125-200 heavily armed jihadis to assault a compound. Two compounds. Stevens did have meetings off site normally but he chose to have them all in house on 9-11 because it was 9-11. He also had to take a vehicle to get to and from the airport.
I still think the biggest prize was the intel we lost that they would have to breach and search both compounds to be sure they got.
Sacking of Benghazi consulate a catastrophic intelligence loss
