Citizens United Political Victory Fund (CUPVF), the affiliated PAC of Citizens United, released a poll today conducted by Wenzel Strategies, showing Congressman Todd Akin in the lead against incumbent Senator Claire McCaskill in the Missouri United States Senate race. The poll was conducted via telephone survey of likely General Election voters from October 12-13, included 1,000 respondents, and has a 3.07% margin of error

GO AKIN!!
This should put the fear of GOD into the hearts of all these “ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS”. These RINOS have no fear of the democrats, their biggest fear is the TEA PARTY. They know that with the accendancy of the TEA PARTY in this country, sounds a death knell of the “RINOS” in our body politic. Let every politician be on notice, everything they do in Washington will be carefully watched, and if they think they can make unconstitutional laws, they will be removed from office. This includes the presidency

From 2008: Todd Akin "And what sort of places do these bottom-of-the-food-chain doctors work in? Places that are really a pit. You find that along with the culture of death go all kinds of other law-breaking: not following good sanitary procedure, giving abortions to women who are not actually pregnant, cheating on taxes, all these kinds of things, misuse of anesthetics so that people die or almost die."
This gives me a bit of amusement...a poll that confounds both sides! I hope Akin wins so both sides shut the hell up.
I was one of the people who thought Akin made a very stupid statement that very likely could have lost this race for the GOP and thus, should have left the race to a move viable candidate. I thought he flubbed the question — I don’t think he really thinks rape was legitimate but he started talking about something he should have known could only cause damage and was too stupid to know he was in a danger zone and should have shut up. I know there are a lot of posters on this board who are strong Akin supporters but we have to admit what he did was incredibly stupid and damaging.
But I never wanted Akin to lose and I hope this poll is true. Conservatives can play games with polls just like liberals and I think there have been several polls by socially conservative organizations designed to make Akin look viable. But at the end of the day, I clearly would rather have Akin in the Senate than Obama-Care Claire.
How about Tonya Reaves?
Romney was surging until akin openned his mouth. It is good romney won the debate or Akin could take responsibility for the Obama win. Nevertheless, in the Senate we will have between 43 and 59 depending on how all the races go. I think we get 51-52 which is more than enough without Akin.
What exactly is wrong with that statement. Sounds like he knows exactly what he’s talking about.
Not for the first time, I’m embarrassed that people like you are allowed to post on FR.
“Im embarrassed that you are on FR. We didnt used to have people that swilled gallons of media kool-aid and then attempted to regurgitate it as thoughtful comments on FR.”
Me too! I am amazed at the degradation in the level of discourse here on FR recently. Akin wasn’t my choice, and I thought he should have resigned over the mess he created. That said, he had earned the right to be the candidate and we need that seat. I can’t believe that some people here actually dislike the Republican candidate so much that they prefer to vote RAT!
Well golly gee.
I’m sure all of the unborn children who are slaughtered due to the policies of McCaskill and her ilk are hoping to spare you any “embarrassment.”
Not to mention future generations who will wind up as debt-slaves to china.
Smh
Akin made what looked like an easy Win a difficult hill to climb. I hope he pulls it off, but there is no denying that he made things much harder than they needed to be.
That was and is the issue. We need to regain the Senate.
I live in the KC TV market and I can’t remember the last time I saw an Akin ad on television. McCaskill is all over the place; both her’s and PACs advertising on her behalf. Akin’s broke. Unless that changes then he’s going to remain the underdog.
What do you have against lifetime 97 ACU scores?
So what are you trying to do with that quote, help prove that he is indeed an excellent, committed conservative? Thank God we have truly moral individuals like Akin who are willing to expose the horrors that surround the murders of unborn babies to the general public no matter how politically incorrect the liberal intelligentsia think it is.
I’m as proud that Akin made that statement about abortion as I am that he has stood up to the RINOs at the RNC who embarrass the party with their gutless, unprincipled cowardice on an almost daily basis.
the democrat brand means "We give you free stuff and tell you what you want to hear and in return we are somewhat corrupt"
the republican brand means "We tell you what you need to hear and our candidates are more talented than their candidates."
Akin is messing with the republican brand. He came close to sinking Romney and the other senate candidates. The fact that he refused to resign for the good of the party (and there were plenty of solid candidates to take his place) tells me he is unfit as a republican for public office.
Claire is a commie crook, but she fits right in with the democrat brand which is "we tell you what you want to hear, we give you free stuff, and we are somewhat corrupt."
Not Me, not this time!
Akin really smoked the pro-abortion faux conservatives out of their holes.
I may have been included in this poll. Happened to be home sick on Oct 12 and got a live poll phone call. Questioner was female African American. First question was Akin v. McCaskill.
why? Because he stands against Obamacare? and stands FOR what most American conservatives stand for? Are you really FOR McCaskill?
Goodness sakes!
