Because everyone had such a great time at the last shoot we are anxious for the next one.
The date for the 8th Annual TCMS shoot will be June 8th, 2013 and will be held at Dietz Gun Shop and Shooting Range, in New Braunfels, TX. Providing we get the OK from Mr. Dietz I will call him this week to discuss our coming to the range.
Staying in the Pelican Bay cottages this year was a stroke of genius, so we will again be staying in cottages. The cottage pick for this shoot is the Cypress Creek Cottages, in Wimberley, TX. There are only twelve cottages at this place, and as of this writing 7 of them have been reserved. NOTE: They require full payment at the time the reservations are made. Wimberley also has some very nice hotels in the area in the event all the cottages get rented.
Making it a three & a half day weekend will be the plans for many of us, that way we can enjoy the area and have lots of porch time.
The Friday night dinner & Saturday breakfast places have not yet been decided. There is still plenty of time to figure out those details. Saturday after the shoot lunch will be provided by our own chef ~ cpdiii (Thanks Charlie!). Suggestions for the Saturday night meal are more than welcome.
My thanks to mylife, penelopesire, LuvW, BuckeyeTexan and NYTexan for their help in getting these plans going.
More popular than purses or shoes or SUVs during times of turmoil...
But who’s counting? Hubby knows I like guns, so he gets them for me. The ammo is getting complicated, though.
We were going to stick to .45s. Hah! That’s out the window.
Same down here.
For the first time, I'm hesitant to target practice with 9mm, 30-.06 and .44.
Been using .22, which I have a great abundance of and 30-30.
Ain't the same, but making do.
Hard to concentrate on practice when you're worried about how much ammo you're using.
Takes the fun out of it.
As far as getting a .308 Bullpup, that is on hold, waited too long to make a move before things got crazy.
Still kicking my own butt about that.
Well, how were we to know that a commie president would be buying up all the ammo and driving the prices of guns and ammo through the roof for everybody?
I started nagging Hubby just in time, and like you, we’re pretty well stocked up with ammo, although one can never have enough guns, nor enough ammo.
Awesome and more awesome. We get to see y’all in addition to all the shooting!
We got a spam can, so I doubt that we'll run out. Thanks anyway, my friend.
So sorry to just be getting back to you on this but we will be there! Hubby is coming with us this time, so there will be three of us. Can’t wait to see everybody for some beer and ‘porch philosophy’...lol!
How exciting that your hubby is making the trip! Looking forward to it.
I had a ribeye and catfish at McBride’s. Mmmmmm
We do seem to have an increasing supply of Nazis of our own. I have a sister in law who's a good shot with a rifle, her maiden name is Irina Borisova Pravednyh (Think I got her patronymic correct, daughter of Boris at any rate) Her 11 y/o daughter, my niece, can hit a 5" plate at 600 meters, with a 30-06. My brother in law can hit the same plate at 800 meters, but he's using more gun and more scope.
She, the niece, gets that from her great grandpa, her grandpa and her dad. And that's just on her Dad's side. :)
When Admiral Yamamoto said there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass in America, I'll bet even he didn't think a bunch of them would have 11 y/o girls on the triggers. :)
Several years ago I was in Orlando for work, at AT&T on behalf of Army Operational Test command. One of the AT&T guys took a couple of us to the range. He had two Mosin-Nagants. One set up like a WW-II sniper rifle. He loaded differently for the two, and for the SVT he also had. I shot the scoped MN and the SVT. Neither kicked all that bad. I had my target on the wall of the office, along with a picture of the (type of) rifle.. and on the target I wrote "Enemy at the Gates". :) I didn't think either kicked all that much.
Hmm. Tatyana Yuryevna Gnedash is my (Step) Niece. Iriana's daughter from her first marriage. She can shoot pretty well too. Doesn't much any more.
Only five cottages has me worried, and am late to this thread. Have not spoke with better half yet and have a lot to do ... meself will check after talking with better half. Don't desire to miss this one but what will be will be. I worried after reading this post.
bk on 2, 3, 5, 11 & 12
Does ammo have a shelf life?
I wanna see Heaven! God Bless Texas. Cottage 2, 3, and 5 still available as of March 02. Hope there is one left, and will take the clue and mention “Texas Cowboy” should all work for a time with you’all. Prayers Up, better half will not take the shotgun and blow one off in me’s direction. I wanna see Heaven! Dear, don’t shoot ... Texas dear, Texas!
It depends upon how it is stored. Somewhere dry, of course. I have a bag sealer, and for the long term, vacuum sealing it would probably work well for quite a while.
Did you ever get that info we discussed from your sister?
