8th Annual TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot ~ Planning Thread
TheMom

Posted on 10/14/2012 2:59:02 PM PDT by TheMom

Because everyone had such a great time at the last shoot we are anxious for the next one.

The date for the 8th Annual TCMS shoot will be June 8th, 2013 and will be held at Dietz Gun Shop and Shooting Range, in New Braunfels, TX. Providing we get the OK from Mr. Dietz – I will call him this week to discuss our coming to the range.

Staying in the Pelican Bay cottages this year was a stroke of genius, so we will again be staying in cottages. The cottage pick for this shoot is the Cypress Creek Cottages, in Wimberley, TX. There are only twelve cottages at this place, and as of this writing 7 of them have been reserved. NOTE: They require full payment at the time the reservations are made. Wimberley also has some very nice hotels in the area in the event all the cottages get rented.

Making it a three & a half day weekend will be the plans for many of us, that way we can enjoy the area and have lots of porch time.

The Friday night dinner & Saturday breakfast places have not yet been decided. There is still plenty of time to figure out those details. Saturday after the shoot lunch will be provided by our own chef ~ cpdiii (Thanks Charlie!). Suggestions for the Saturday night meal are more than welcome.

My thanks to mylife, penelopesire, LuvW, BuckeyeTexan and NYTexan for their help in getting these plans going.

Some thing you may not know is that rifle was made in the Good ol USA for Russia back during the reign of Peter The Great.
They were made by Remington and Westinghouse.

About 20 rounds is my limit in the old Mosin Nagant ☺

In the Romanian PSL I could shoot that round all day.

I really miss socializing with freepers both online and in person.

Mr. Neighbor is a nice chap. I've stopped at George's a few more times for chicken fried steak since meeting ya'll there a while back. I even took some co-workers.

Bittygirl has sure grown since you gave her "a ride" on your Hog in the garage many moons ago.

my dad refers to him as “to the right of Atilla,”

A while back Msdrby was telling her friend how I was more conservative than my dad. Friend says, "so, he likes Bush?" No, says Msdrby, he thinks Bush is a liberal.

I wonder how many millions of Mosin Nagants there are in Texas alone?

Wideners had the M44 carbine version (41 inches) on sale for under $220.

Day-um!

I've got one of those, got it maybe seven or eight years ago.

Best $75.00 I ever spent.

And roast marshmellers afterwards.

We looked up the laws with regard to transporting ordnance and also the reciprocal coverage of our CC permits. We very carefully complied with the laws of every state we passed through from Ohio to Texas with regard to the weapons and the ammo.

So as not to get stopped, we were very compliant with the traffic laws as well.

We have CC permits from Ohio and Utah. They cover all but three states.

Fortunately, many of the states’ laws are similar, and we studiously avoid the ones that do not recognize our CC permits.
