The State Department news conference made very clear it had never been the State Departments position, I repeat, never been the State Departments position that in fact this assault was part of a reaction to a video or the like. This has been corroborated by numerous witnesses and whistleblowers.
Yet Ambassador Patrick Kennedy continued to state that "intelligence sources" told them it was "the video" for days after the incident although he wouldn't say who those "intelligence sources" were. Apparently the State Dept.'s "intelligence sources" told State a complete fabrication for days and Ambassador Kennedy doesn't see that as a problem.
