Don't entirely discount Biden. Sarah Palin didn't decimate him the way we thought she would. She came out ahead with our side, of course, but she had no major "gotchya" moments, and he had no major gaffes, so the mushy middle voters were mostly unaffected.

I'd love for Ryan to make the 1st Presidential debate look merciful by comparison... I'm just saying that Bumbling Joe has shown that he can actually keep himself together for 90 min when he needs to.

I agree that we should not be "looking past" Biden. I have seen many a good NFL team, for instance, take a spanking by a cellar-dwelling team because they were overconfident and didn't prepare.

Biden might be a clown but he's been around the block a few times. He's perfectly capable of having 90 minutes of lucidity on national TV. Especially in light of Obama's dismal performance last week. Biden will likely behave himself and take it up a notch or two.

I'm not worried about Ryan at all. He's sharp and on top of his game. But if Biden is able to at least hold his own, you know that the national media will kick the "Comeback Kid" meme into high gear.

That said, a poor performance by Ryan will hurt Romney way more than a lackluster performance by Biden will hurt Obama. Ryan needs to turn in a great performance to keep the Romney momentum going.
