Romney: Best debate performance in 52 years
wnd.com ^ | Oct. 4, 2012 | Pat Buchanan

Mitt Romney on Wednesday night turned in the finest debate performance of any candidate of either party in the 52 years since Richard Nixon faced John F. Kennedy, with the possible exception of Ronald Reagan’s demolition of Jimmy Carter in 1980.

But where Reagan won with style and quips – “There you go again” – and his closing line, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” Romney crushed Obama on both substance and style.

Mitt was like a contender so keyed up by his title shot that, between rounds, he could not sit on his stool, but stood in his corner to rush out and re-engage the champ the instant the bell sounded for the next round.

Obama was mauled, with facts, figures, anecdotes, arguments, jokes, quips. A smiling Romney was on offense all night. And the president’s performance seems inexplicable.

With the split screen showing his response to Romney’s swarm attacks, he appeared diffident, sullen, pouting, flustered, petulant.

Obama made no serious blunder. Yet, on the split screen, as Romney lectured him with a stern smile, Obama seemed a chastened schoolboy, head down, being instructed by a professor that if he did not get his grades up he would not be back next semester.

The verdict on the Denver encounter – that Romney turned in the performance of his life and one of the most impressive in the history of presidential debates, and that the president underperformed, was outclassed and lost badly – was virtually unanimous.

And the president’s performance seems inexplicable.

It seems that way only to people who have been fooled by him. The rest of us knew better.

Romney destroyed the communist POS Obama.I saw at least 10 Conservative things that Romney said that shows he is for limiting the federal government and for freedom:

Romney said he would privatize medicare

2. that private sector works better than government
3. won’t raise taxes
4. will repeal Obamacare, that federal government has no right to do this,
5 reduce government regulations on businesses
6. repeal dod frank
7. is for federalism and limiting the federal government , letting states be the labs
8. said he is for freedom and not trickle down government as Obama is

all very conservative positions, and these are just on the top of my head.

You don't say these things so naturally if you don't believe them.

Yet many here say there is no difference between Marxist POS Obama and Romney. The media and some freepers here endlessly savaged Romney. the guy they portrayed is not the guy I saw in that debate. You don't say these things so naturally if you don't believe them.

I wouldn’t go that far. After all, he couldn’t have done it without Obama’s help.

A CEO/church denomination area president/Olympics re-organizer/MBA & JD simultaneously from Harvard versus a never held a private sector job/community organizer/choom gang/affirmative action student and machine politician. Who saw that coming?

I don’t know about that, however Romney talked to obama as the child he is.......and obama nearly exploded because of it.
But, hey obama was one fire today when he had his teleprompter.

I totally agree, and said so to my significant other last night...I said, “That was, in my memory, the best debate performance I think I’ve ever seen by a Republican candidate. Ronald Reagan 1980-like.” (1980 was the first debate I watched.)

If a debate turns to social issues, Romney may find himself in trouble. In a debate about social issues, Obama can run as far left as he likes and it won’t make a bit of difference to his supporters. At the same time, Romney will struggle with those issues.

That's ridiculous. What we saw last night was 2 people being who they really were without the media filter nor the freeper filter. BS you don't say things so rapidly, so naturally in that manner that He did if they are not a deep part of who you are and what you believe. You Obama supporters don't fool me. I believe my eyes I don't believe your ridiculous, infantile, idiotic spin.

You know what really struck me about Romney last nite?

He was sincere. He wasn’t lying, and it was obvious.

I may not agree with him 100%, and he may be more liberal than me, but I do appreciate his honesty and his sincerity.

I think that is why Obama and his zombies are out trying to call Mitt a liar today.

The next debate will be “town hall” style. I fully expect some stupid youtube questions along with a few iterations of the fabled “pony-tail boy” in the audience reading their questions off of DNC text messages. The next one will be nonsensical and I expect then to give Obama the questions beforehand.

It might also show that Iran is scared of Romney becoming president.

Even if this happened, I don't think for a minute that it would change anything. Elections just don't work li that. The 1980 Bush DWI thing was very damaging because a) it came on the final weekend, and b) it struck a one of Bush's biggest strengths---his character compared to that of Clinton.

this wouldn't be that kind of news.

I don't think Romney is going after Obama's supporters. (Egad...there just has to be a joke in that statement) Nothing will ever turn those useful idiots around. All Romney needs to do is keep showing everyone else that he is not Obama. Like he did last night.
