"Yesterday the greatest question was decided which ever was debated in America; and a greater perhaps never was, nor will be, decided among men.
A resolution was passed without one dissenting colony, that these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States."~John Adams

Made a donation in honor of Mitts Epic Ride last night in the first debate. Heres hoping we have an all new government in a months time.
Thanks Jim for all you have done for the Conservative cause, and thanks also to all the FR posters who animate the spirit of this place to make it the most consistently useful news and analytical resource on the web!
I don’t agree with everything I read here, but I always find the openness and frankness of the opinions that people share here to help me understand the things my RINOish self sometimes doesn’t “get” right away. Here’s to another 15 years. (Has it been 15 years or did I make that up?)

It was a demoralized, ill-equipped army which stood on the shore of the Delaware River in December of 1776...
The year had not gone well for the army. Washington's men had suffered horrendous defeats in New York at the hands of British and Hessian soldiers. The losses of Forts Washington and Lee had levied a heavy toll to the Patriot cause as many troops were killed or taken prisoner, much needed supplies/munitions were abandoned in the evacuation of the forts, and the belief in the possible achievement of independence was dwindling at every turn. As much of the army was forced to retreat across New Jersey, the collective mood of Washington, Congress, and the army darkened. Enlistments were down, desertion was high, and monies from Congress were unavailable. Men on both sides of the conflict and of all stations and ranks began to question if the Revolution could be ending in the same year in which independence was declared.
Even their stoic commander despaired over "a noble cause lost," and wrote to his brother, "I think the game is pretty near up.
But Washington Did Not Surrender, He Became Bolder And Fought Back!

"Indiana is a US state, admitted to the United States as the 19th on December 11, 1816. It is located in the midwestern and Great Lakes regions of North America. Indiana is the 38th largest by area and the 15th most populous of the 50 United States. Indiana is the least extensive state in the continental US west of the Appalachian Mountains. Its capital and largest city is Indianapolis, the second largest of any state capital and largest state capital east of the Mississippi River.
Before it became a territory, varying cultures of indigenous peoples and historic Native Americans inhabited Indiana for thousands of years. Angel Mounds State Historic Site, one of the best preserved ancient earthwork mound sites in the United States, can be found in Southwestern Indiana near Evansville. Residents of Indiana are known as Hoosiers. The etymology of the word is disputed, but the leading theory as advanced by the Indiana Historical Bureau and the Indiana Historical Society has "Hoosier" originating from the upland South region of the U.S. as a derogatory slang term for a rough countryman, a country bumpkin.
The state's name means "Land of the Indians," or simply "Indian Land." "source: Wikipedia

It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.

"Illinois is the 25th most extensive and the 5th most populous of the 50 United States, and is often noted as a microcosm of the entire country. With Chicago in the northeast, small industrial cities and great agricultural productivity in central and northern Illinois, and natural resources like coal, timber, and petroleum in the south, Illinois has a broad economic base. Illinois is a major transportation hub.
The Port of Chicago connects the state to other global ports from the Great Lakes, via the Saint Lawrence Seaway, to the Atlantic Ocean; as well as the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River, via the Illinois River. For decades, O'Hare International Airport has ranked as one of the world's busiest airports. Illinois has long had a reputation as a bellwether both in social and cultural terms and politics."

"As to the history of the revolution, my ideas may be peculiar, perhaps singular. What do we mean by the Revolution? The war? That was no part of the revolution; it was only an effect and consequence of it. The revolution was in the minds of the people, and this was effected from 17601775, in the course of fifteen years, before a drop of blood was shed at Lexington. "
