To: Cincinatus' Wife

I’m reading all I can but I see nothing anywhere about the tax credit for offshoring. Romney said authoritatively that Obama was wrong to claim that businesses get tax credits for moving to foreign shores.
I’ve no idea who’s right, but it sure sounded like glass broke when Romney responded to it.

I agree that there is no tax “credit” for off-shoring jobs. Companies do it because they need a local presence or the expense for wages will be less. There may be some tax “savings” in the US because the company does not have to match Social Security and Medicare witholding for those employees, but that is certainly not a credit, and the company also has to adhere to the labor laws in the off-shore location.
