There was no ‘shout out’ to Rev Wright in that version. A lot of talk about how he was going to usher in a new America and how they (blacks) would never forget what happened to them over the years. No all that polariing since many of his speeches hint at that very thing already.

Yes, that was a very public speech. It ruined my commute that morning. At that point, I was commuting to Norfolk and taking a tunnel, but cutting through Hampton U to get around most of the tunnel traffic. Took me 3a hours in the heat with no AC to get to work that AM. I remember it well. He didnt say anything stupid that day, unless it was backstage with a hot mic.
