Poll: Nelson, Mack tied in Florida Senate race

Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson's once smooth ride toward a third term has hit a snag, says a new poll, which shows the Florida lawmaker locked in a dead heat with Republican challenger Rep. Connie Mack.
The results of an independent survey by Gravis Marketing shows each candidate with the support of 43 percent of likely voters, though 14 percent are undecided. The result is contrary to recent surveys, including four separate independent polls taken in September that pegged Mr. Nelson with a 14-point lead.

I live in Sarasota. The local fishwrapper is a NYT affiliated bird cage liner. It has frequent stories that the Senatorial race is over and Connie Mack might as well work on his catching skills.

It probably is a waste for Mack to run ads in South Florida because most of that area is going to vote Democrat anyway. Outside of a few pockets....South Florida is pretty much Third World liberal Four (R) seats in Congress -- including Allen West's -- is hardly "a few pockets." And if by "Third World" you mean Miami-Dade's heavy Cuban population (I don't know what else you might mean by that remark) remember that it is still very reliably Republican.
That being said, Mack has done nothing down here, and has very little traction. This poll seems like an outlier.

Great news..
FYI..several weeks ago, the left rag Tampa Bay Times..had an in depth analysis of Nelson's chances..the consensus was that in order for him to win he would actually have to run 2-3 points AHEAD of Obama in the state..
Florida will go for Romney...

Hopefully Mack has an October surprise attack ad in his back pocket. Nelson is blasting him on my TV here in Central Florida with personal attacks non stop.

All correct. There are a lot of deniers here. Mack is a terrible candidate. A strong candidate should be double digits ahead of Nelson at this point. The problem is that the personal attack ads on Mack are true. He has LOTS of personal "baggage", and not that great a voting record, either.
When Mack left Broward County it was the Republicans who were glad to see him go, not the Democrats.

Polling in Florida has been all over the map not only in the Senate race, but the Presidential election, as well. I have no idea of why, input from Florida Freepers is encouraged.

“Before it was sold it was a conservative paper .”
The Sarasota Herald Tribune was sold to the Halifax Group in 2011. The Halifax Group purports to be conservative. Prior to that, the Herald Tribune was owned by the NY Slimes. The Halifax Group has yet to deliver on “being conservative.”
Where you come up with this drivel that it was conservative is way beyond me.
