I got out of the Army in 72 and worked 5 1/2 years with the Sheriff’s Department. Twice in that time I had to work cases on abandoned newborns. One was found in a suitcase in an old house out in the county that teens were known to party at, the other was found in a roadside dumpster. In both cases we never found the mother.

Years ago I heard that some men who were clearing rural land had found a series of dead babies in old jars. It was determined that decades before a couple with a lot of daughters had lived on the property.
