Pat Caddell gave a fantastic speech to Accuracy in Media on the media and how starting in the 1980s they stopped holding both sides to the same level of accountability. He focuses a fair amount on Benghazi-gate but also mentions a few other things including the medias silence on David Plouffe receiving $100k from an Iranian front group for giving 2 speeches. Caddell totally nails it by saying that the media has now become a danger to America and an enemy of the people.

The media have been the enemy of the people for 100 years. They are democrats. The media is the cause of all the problems we have or 99% of them.

That time period coincided with the affordability and availability of televisions. Prior to about 1960, not every family had one, but by the election of 1962 just about every household did.
It’s so much easier to manipulate the masses when they are parked in front of the tv every night. Prior to its advent, the media had to rely on newspapers and radio to get their message out - coupled with the fact that people sat down with their families for dinner every night, instead of being glued to the box. If a member of the family read the paper or listened to the news on the radio, the whole family would discuss it. Opinions varied greatly from family member to family member, but at least each person thought for him/herself. Back then, people actually had lives and did things together after supper. Now, they sit on the couch for passive “indoctrination” or “entertainment.”
Tx for link. I would add, thank God and JimRob for FR.
He was and is very nice and very genuine. He is my second favorite Democrat next to Zell Miller.
Fascinating picture.
But what is the context? Where and when was it taken, I am wondering.
Re: Your #40 post.
“That’s the spirit. That’s exactly what I’m talking about. As others have said the press has been changing the paradigm for some time now. The rest of us have only reacted by trying to increase our debating skills. But they aren’t debating they are creating the reality they want accepted by the masses.
Breitbart started fighting back but I’m not sure even he fully appreciated that the fight isn’t with the so-called information the press is delivering but with the press itself. Caddell has and he is right.
To be absolutely clear to everyone reading this this isn’t about character assassination this about character exposure. We have to destroy them but not with their tactics of lies and misinformation. We will need to gain credibility by exposing their lack of credibility with the truth. There is no shortage of that at all but it will be uphill to dig it out and source it and down and dirty to wreck their lives with it.
The biggest challenge may simply be to change our perspective and redirect our focus from reacting to what the press is feeding us to who the press is and what their motives are. Where ever possible the spotlight has to be turned back on the press and away from the subject they are shining it on. It’s time to grill them and force them to defend every word they say.”
It deserves another reading.
Amen to that, cyn.
Thank you.
