Democrats: Investigate Benghazi Attack AFTER the Election

Don’t be fooled by the supposedly bipartisan effort to investigate the Obama administration’s actions after the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya. Democrats are no more serious about challenging their leader in the White House than they have ever been.

But here’s the salient point, and how the Democrats are duping the public into thinking that they truly want an investigation: Kerry and his pals’ letter to Thomas Nides, deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, is asking for more information and a full briefing after the Senate returns in November.

Since the Democrats control the Senate, they can probably prevent hearings until November. If the GOP wants hearings before the election, they will probably have to be in the House. Boehner can probably call the House into session now for hearings, but a lot of his members might object to being taken away from their personal campaigns. So, I don’t know that we can expect anything to happen soon.

If a Republican administration had been responsible for such a grandiose fark-up, we would have had some "distinguished sounding" Democrat senator (think Tom Daschle or George Mitchell) intoning some focus-group tested line like this:

"The security of American soverign territory, in the form of our Embassies and Missions abroad, and the physical safety of our brave Diplomats, is something we take very seriously here in the United States Senate. Although it is to be expected that the current Administration, fighting for its political life from a weak position... although it is to be expected that they would look for any political advantage to be found even in the bleakest of circumstances... we here in the Senate are shocked that they would try to play politics with the scheduling of hearings that might reflect badly on their decisions and their policies."
"Nonetheless, we must continue to do the People's Business, and discharge our responsibility to safeguard the National Security of the United States. Therefore we will commence - immediately - a series of hearings, to be held in several committees of this Senate, to fully investigate the troubling circumstances of the recent events in Libya and Egypt. We know this may not be convenient for the political plans of the White House, but some things come before politics in our System of Government."

These words would have been repeated on every network broadcast, 24/7, for the next three days. Every Sunday Show would want to have the Democrat Leader of the Senate and the Democrat Leader oft the House on their shows. The liberal pundits on those shows would be revitalized, reinvigorated, by these righteous words, and the Conservatives would be chastened, forced to agree - with the greatest reluctance - that the White House was in Serious Trouble With The American People Less Than Six Weeks Before The Presidential Election.
