How about we start with an ideology and religion that has advocated and encouraged inbreeding for centuries to the point that their internal wiring and self-control is so damaged that they cannot control their anger if someone steps on a water stain on a carpet that they think resembles their prophet.
Maybe we should start with THAT as a "deeper cause", but I will wager that isn't what Obama is referring to.
