The outrage over the Benghazi attack and the Obama administration’s response has percolated for two weeks on Capitol Hill, but it’s breaking out into the open today. Last week, the White House briefing for Congress frustrated Senator Bob Corker so badly that he told reporters, “That is the most useless, worthless briefing I have attended in a long time.” Today, House Armed Services chair Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon told Fox News that the Obama administration seems to be deliberately hiding the “truth” about the Benghazi attack, and that the only reason he sees for the subterfuge is the date in November that’s fast approaching:

The outrage over the Benghazi attack and the Obama administration’s response has percolated for two weeks on Capitol Hill, but it’s breaking out into the open today. Last week, the White House briefing for Congress frustrated Senator Bob Corker so badly that he told reporters, “That is the most useless, worthless briefing I have attended in a long time.” Today, House Armed Services chair Rep. Six “top Republicans” in Congress, including McKeon, have sent a letter to the White House demanding a new briefing. McKeon specifically calls out UN Ambassador Susan Rice for pushing the “spontaneous” protest that “spun out of control” story days after the attacks, when intel showed within hours that the assassination of Ambassador Stevens was the result of a planned terrorist attack — on the anniversary of 9/11. McKeon still has no idea whether the FBI is in Benghazi at all, or whether the “crime scene” has been secured, more than two weeks later.

Speaking of the FBI, McKeon points out that the White House response to this – and Rice’s spin — goes hand in hand with Obama’s “law enforcement” approach to terrorism. “They still have the mentality of treating this like it’s a law and order issue rather than a ‘war on terror’ issue,” McKeon tells Fox. The letter from Republicans to the White House specifically declares that the US seems not to have learned a lesson from the pre-9/11 attack failures:

******************************

The letter, which was obtained by Fox News, says many questions were left unanswered about the Sept. 11 attack in last week’s intelligence briefing for lawmakers by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

The letter also criticizes the administration’s handling of the aftermath of the attack, particularly its characterization of the attack as an out-of control protest rather than an act of terror against the U.S.

Slamming the response to the attack as a “pre-9/11 mindset,” they ask the Obama administration what it plans to do to protect other U.S. interests abroad from being targeted.

“Clearly, the threat from Al Qaeda and affiliated groups has metastasized; yet we do not appear to be learning from the past,” the letter states.

The lawmakers who signed the letter include House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rep. Rogers, R-Ky., Armed Services Committee Chairman Rep. McKeon, R-Calif., Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Rep. Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla. and Judicary Committee Chairman Rep. Smith, R-Texas, among others.

Maybe the media would like a better briefing than they got from Susan Rice on 9/16, too. Let’s see if they start demanding one.

Update: Perhaps the White House correspondents have begun demanding the better explanation. Mark Knoller reported on Twitter about Jay Carney’s defense of the omission of the word “terrorism” from Obama’s remarks about the Benghazi attack:

I give grudging admiration to Nancy Pelosi for her tenacity in dogging a president of the opposite party. She may lack sanity and decency, but ONE thing she doesn’t lack is GUTS. I can only imagine if the current Sleeper of the House had the same courage or energy.

I have not heard Comment #1 from Boehner. I so wish someone could unhook whatever body part(s) Boehner has caught in a folding chair steer him to the podium to do some LEADING for once!

Nothing.

As a matter of fact, I’d really like to see Allen West walk up to Boehner and threaten to kick his sorry little pansy ass if he doesn’t step up!!!!

I believe Hillary and Co. left the Benghazi Embassy virtually open to attack because the liberals believed EVERYONE in Libya idolizes America for backing the 'Arab Spring' movement. This IGNORANCE and the liberals' belief that the 'war on terror' is over because of the OBL raid led to the attack.

Also, SOMEONE (possibly Huma Abedin) or a general or other 'American' military member of Islamic faith tipped the bad guys off in Libya that our Embassy was open for attack. This leads one to believe that perhaps this event was staged by our government to begin a pro-Sharia Law campaign in the United States. This would explain 0bama's INSISTENCE and dwelling upon blaming the anti-Islam movie for the attack; That is a LIE and 0bama knows it but this excuse is necessary to FORWARD his pro-Sharia campaign. "The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam" says 0bama. And so it begins..

The Libya attack staged by 0bama is no different than Fast & Furious in Mexico. They're both aimed at generating an excuse to forward an agenda. Proliferation of weapons in Mexico is the excuse to impose harsh gun control restrictions on American firearms dealers. Benghazi attack is the excuse to impose banning criticism of Islam. Both are Saul Alinsky tactics; Create a problem, then the excuse to fix the problem!:

Fast & Furious >> Dead Border Patrol agent >> Regime blasts American gun dealers >> new restrictions on American firearms dealers

Benghazi attack >> Dead Ambassador >> Regime blasts American filmmaker >> President & U.N. condemns criticizing Islam to impose Sharia Law in United States

What are these " Lawmakers " going to do with the all out assault on American's freedom of FREESPEECH in contrast to what we heard at the UN love fest of Islam, the Arab nations calling on for blasphemy laws globally ?
These law makers needs to step up to the plate for Americans and declare that Americans have a right to express their objections to what happen in Libya, express their disapproval of the handling of this foreign policy mess by this administration.

Remember Liberals ? Main Stream Media ? Democrats ? It was the " COVER UP " that was Richard Nixon's downfall which lead to his resignation.

WHAT DID OBAMA AND HILLARY CLINTON KNOW AND WHEN DID THEY KNOW IT IN THIS LIBYA FIASCO MESS ?

Calling on Congress to start Congressional hearings of the scope of WaterGate, there should be impeachment hearings in this matter
