Words fail me; I just cant understand this kind of behavior from a son and daughter, for a SSI check, or anything. Let's say the old lady died at home of natural causes. They can either report the death and the SS checks stop, or they bury her privately and the SS checks continue. It's not necessarily the case that they murdered her.

The last Medicare claim for the woman was in 1980, after a stroke. The son and daughter may not have taken proper care of her at home, or she may have passed away from complications.
The judge has ordered a competency hearing for the son. His living conditions were horrid. I have to wonder if he had been "living in mom's basement" all his life, and his mother's SS check was his only income.

Hope not. Fraud is less severe than murder, obviously.
