A new National Journal/Heartland Monitor Poll out this morning finds Obama leading Mitt Romney nationally by 50-43 among likely voters. The poll probes voter attitudes towards the economy in a very interesting way that really explains why Obama may be winning re-election.
The key takeaway is the polls confirmation that Romneys theory of the race which is built on the are you better off question seems to be flawed, as Ive repeated far too often. Ron Brownstein explains:
The survey also shows why it may be difficult for Republicans to center the election on the famous Ronald Reagan question to voters that the party highlighted at its national convention last month: Are you better off than you were four years ago? That question divides likely voters almost exactly in thirds: in the poll, 31 percent say they are better off than four years ago, while 34 percent say they are worse off and 34 percent say they are about the same. Romney, predictably, wins more than four-fifths of voters who say they are worse off; the president, equally unsurprisingly, attracts almost nine in 10 of those who consider themselves better off.

Well Hell I dont know what to believe anymore but freepers sure like to post how we arent winning threads!!! Doesnt even seem Romneys running for anything lately. Hadnt seen an ad anywhere. Just saw 4 Obama ads on ESPN. Why wont Romney put ads on Bravo or E or History or Disney or Lifetime, WTH is he doing?
Gas Prices double
Debt increased $6 trillion
Wages decreased by 10%
Unemployment increased from 7.6% to now 8.1%, 3 years later.
Probably because the voters he wants to reach aren’t watching those networks. ESPN, for example, is watched mostly by males. White males ain’t voting for Obama, and black males won’t vote for Romney. So it’s a waste of Romney’s money.
And by the way, Romney is tied in Rasmussen and Gallup. His numbers have RISEN since his “47%” comment came out.
Same here in central Ohio, very little from Romney, no campaigning, very few ads. I don’t get it either. I would like to believe that all these polls are nonsense and skewed in Obamas favor but it isn’t just a few, it’s all of them.
Romney win will be a landslide. Surprising to see those think the opposite.
I am in Michigan, during Friday football highlights I saw many Romney Ads run by PACs. I tape all locals channels as my son plays and they ran 4 times on every station. NO OBAMA ADS.
Guys never listen to what they say watch where they are going. Why is Obama in Wisconsin? Because the poll they have in that state showing him ahead andvThompson behind over samples Dems and he knows he’s behind.
Greg Sargent is such a committed movement leftist that even while Obama is being dragged out of the White House and sent back to Chicago or Honolulu or Nairobi by his Secret Service detail on January 20, 2013 kicking and spitting and screaming over the unfairness of it all, Sargent will still be publishing articles under his by-line claiming that Obama still has an insurmountable lead.
GOP Pollster McGaughlin warned that Axelrod has all his Obama media pals cooking up phony slanted polls in order to impact early voting !
The Obama media has been given orders to suppress Early GOP voting using slanted polls !!!
i’m glad to hear this as I watched the Central Michigan-Iowa game on the Big Ten network today and saw four obozo commercials yet no Romney ad...
So you are telling me that the reason Romney is absent in Ohio is because he has a lock on it?
Where are you as big ten can run ads in local cable markets. Romney is winning white males by 74% per Ras so no need for him to use that outlet. If you are in urban area he may be after the ethnic audience.
No, I am just saying its not over, Romney has access to many polls based on proper turnout models. He will advertise and do it hard trust me.
Because commited leftists are creating a meme that Obama is winning, then other committed leftists report on the report that Obama is winning, then other committed leftists editorialize on the report that Obama is winning.
Really as simple as that.
Listening to Greg Sargent is the same as listening to michelle obama. Nothing worthwhile coming out of that face
This is a chess game....remember the coordinated hits on Gingrich and Santorum.....its coming for Obama. In the mean time the race is tied with Dems over sampled 3-10 %
100% Rats will vote for Obama and 100% Republicans will vote for Romney. There is about the same Registered Republicans as Rats.
The Lame Stream Media is lying and they know it.
I think the Indy's may tighten a little to Obama by 4% but that still leaves Indy's split 53% Romney, 47% Obama and that's how the election will end.
i’m in NY and receive Big Ten network via DirectTV...
