In that 47% they count as receiving government assistance are people who get the “earned income tax credit” which is easy to get for any young couple.

That said I have 5 adult children, their spouses and mates and out of 10 all are voting Romney. They understand their civic duty as voters and that you do not ever vote just your wallet. That 47% is a BS number because it hides all the details of it's existence.

You are correct. It is not even 47 percent of people, it is 47 percent of households. If your mother is living with you, and she gets social security, your household is one of the 47 percent. If your spouse is getting a military pension, your household is one of the 47 percent.

A considerable number of the 47 percent are conservatives.

I understand the point Romney was trying to make, which is that we are becoming a dependant nation, but he has said that he could have said it better, and it is true.

There is also a good bit of the tape missing and we do not know the context for that. Presumably it was to make the worst possible cut for Romney.
