President Obama had about $88.8 million at the end of August to spend on the presidential campaign. That's nearly twice as much as Republican rival Mitt Romney had at month's end.
Campaign fundraising reports released Thursday show Romney had $50.4 million to spend as of Aug. 31. He also owed $15 million on a $20 million loan taken that month.

Something doesn't make sense here...we have heard over and over by the media that MR was out raising BO.
NOW he is at half the funds?
This is either an attempt to dispirit us, or they were lying before....
Am I missing something? Does this explain Romney's slow rollout of ads? Just yesterday the National Review reported the Romney camp was "flush" with cash.

Romney has plenty of money, don't worry about it. This is propaganda meant to discourage people

Even if it’s true, it won’t help Obama this time.

I read another article somewhere that the GOP has taken a huge slice of Romney's money for congressional races whereas Obama has largely kept his funds for himself, thus the advantage Obama has in on-hand funds despite Romney's recent fundraising advantage.

These numbers are probably accurate. What they don't take into account is the super-pac money. And in that I think Romney has a huge edge. Here:
When national political parties and allied super-political action committees are included, however, Romney entered September with more cash to spend on his side than Obama, $165 million to $101 million.

Apparently, at least 47-48% of the population can’t.

Notice the wording? Cash on hand.....I understand that candidates must report what they raise but I don't believe they supply the FEC with a balance sheet of what they have to spend on a month to month basis. I'm guessing (JMHO) that this is misleading because it's just recent fund raising totals that include the Beyonce and JZ thug fest and NOT what the candidates actually have to spend. Don't forget the SuperPACs will kick into high gear shortly, as well.

Lot of discussion about this on Twitter, and it raised a lot of eyebrows among our more knowledgeable conservatives. We’ve seen the huge funding numbers, and this doesn’t line up. No doubt Obama has money, but the surprise was Romney now having money on hand.
My only theory is maybe they have made a lot of the media buys already for October and didn’t include those in their total. Other than that, is would be baffling considering we kept hearing about all the money they would have after the convention.

Between Romney and sons they have about 300 million dollars personal wealth.
Is there any good reason that they can’t spend 95% of it on their campaign? I can’t think of any.
Spend it Mitt.

I agree, what’s going on?
First obama is broke, Romney has more money than God.
Now obama has more money than Gad and Romney has debit.
The reporting agencies keep public access to the money the campaigns have, so it’s easy enough to verify, would think news outlets would verify before printing (Ok just typing that made me giggle)
