Mitt Romney's Sparse Campaign Schedule Worries Some Republicans Mitt Romney has been holding fewer public campaign events than John McCain did in 2008. He has spent a lot of time fundraising away from key swing states.

When the political conventions ended in 2008, GOP candidate John McCain bounded around the country like a jack rabbit. In three days, he went from Wisconsin to Michigan to Colorado to New Mexico to Missouri, with multiple campaign appearances in some of those states.
Mitt Romney's schedule this year has presented quite a contrast.
In his first two days of campaigning after the conventions, Romney visited Iowa, New Hampshire and Virginia, with one stop in each state. Then he went home to Boston and took a day off from the campaign trail.
That, as it turns out, has been Romney's most active period of campaigning since the presidential contest moved into its crucial post-convention stage. Although his campaign says he is about to accelerate his pace, Romney so far has held far fewer public events than either presidential candidate did four years ago, and has spent a significant amount of time in states Massachusetts, California, New York, Texas that are not considered up for grabs in November

Obama is doing some of the same.

Time for an Intervention

Peggy Noonan and I don’t agree on everything but we are in complete agreement that the Romney campaign is dysfunctional and often incompetent. It must be turned around and quickly. This might help: Mitt Romney should pretend we are all a group of potential investors in Bain. We are more sophisticated than your political consultants think. Explain to us why your investment strategy is right, how the Company A, B and C which your team has invested in will succeed. Mitt, you have done this countless times in your career—do it again. Help us, the ultimate “investors” in America will see a positive return if we choose to go with you and your team. When you do that, you’ll start to see investors (voters) “like” you a lot.
I guess that really paid off for president McCain.
Actually it did. McCain was 3 points ahead until he dashed off to DC following the Lehman crash to try and fix the collapse and came back empty handed and was wholly unprepared for the debates held the following week.
According to the press.
God forbid it, I was planning voting third party (I can because I'm in Georgia) but with the constant and utter bias, the press is convincing me to vote Romney after all.
Lauar and Pegs need to stop pmsing..Romney is winning hence he is visiting Obama territories
It’s amazing how so many here (and in the conservative punditry) keep dancing to the MSM beat
Romney is either campaigning like a guy who knows he is comfortably ahead (like Nixon in ‘72) or is campaigning like a guy who doesn’t want to win. Which is true, I don’t know.
Truthfully, I feel Romney is losing. In a sane world he’d be far ahead. 0bama has nothing to run on. But this isn’t a sane world. 0bama has nothing to show for his first term except disaster. It’s similar as 1936. FDR had nothing to show but a bunch of radical new federal programs that did nothing to heal the economy. But he won big because people felt FDR cared about them. That’s what 0bama has going for him. People think he cares and Romney is a cold heart, evil rich SOB. That’s what 0bama is winning with, empathy.
We’ll see what happens, but right now I don’t feel good about things.
I await the day when the State Run Propaganda Outfits no longer have ANY (or very minimal) sway.
Brew up a big cup of Hell No, brother. Put away your doubts and work. The press is attempting to demoralize, and it appears they got a toehold with you.
People are now so conditioned to having the media tell them what they should think. It’s a long way from the days when they simply reported the news without the editorial commentary mixed in.
Heck I remember when a newscaster did offer their opinion on the news, you would see displayed “EDITORIAL” on the screen.....now they don’t even bother.
But I have faith, I think Americans are actually a lot smarter than the press gives them credit for. I believe they see through it all.
That’s what remains to be seen....perhaps the big story behind this election will be that people do realize how ridiculously biased the media are. That’s one thing that gives me hope that Romney can win. Believe me, if people really believe what the media is saying, we’re sunk.
I agree. Romney is some 22 points behind Obama on the empathy issue and may explain why he has a whopping lead among single white women.
Mitt Romney is definitely not lazy. So I’m assuming his time is being well spent in debate prep.
I had my wife switch her home page from yahoo to drudge. Simple things make a difference. Also schedule looks busy tomorrow.
Single women always favor Dems for some reason, that is not a surprise.
I don’t care who the Republican is, they will never win among single women, it just won’t happen.
How do know he's not far ahead? Because the polls tell you so, the polls that are consistently oversampling Dems by anywhere from +6 to as much as +13(!!!)?
