Texas may not be a really good state to use as an example, but we are just now opening up campaign headquarters offices all over the state. Signs are being delivered and we do have an assortment of bumper stickers available, but don’t expect to see as many because nobody I know wants their car vandalized.
It takes a great deal of time and money to switch from state to federal elections and gear up. Our primary season went on forever because of court battles over redistricting and runoffs because of hard fought battles. IMO because of most people’s short attention span two months is quite enough time. Thank God we don’t have to put up with a lot of TV ads - had enough of that during the primaries.
I saw something creative done today. Someone put their bumper sticker (didn't see what it said, the car went by too fast) on their windshield sun shade visor. The sticker was visible when the visor was flipped down. You can drive with it flipped down and the sticker showing. When you're ready to park the car, flip it up and no one (with evil intent) can see it.
