Romney Campaign Cautious With Ad Budget, Even in Key States [Romney Must Sack Chief Strategist!]

Romney Campaign Cautious With Ad Budget, Even in Key States By JEREMY W. PETERS and NICHOLAS CONFESSORE September 19, 2012

Despite what appears to be a plump bank account and an in-house production studio that cranks out multiple commercials a day, Mr. Romney’s campaign has been tightfisted with its advertising budget, leaving him at a disadvantage in several crucial states as President Obama blankets them with ads.

One major reason appears to be that Mr. Romney’s campaign finances have been significantly less robust than recent headlines would suggest. Much of the more than $300 million the campaign reported raising this summer is earmarked for the Republican National Committee, state Republican organizations and Congressional races, limiting the money Mr. Romney’s own campaign has to spend.

With polls showing President Obama widening his lead in some of these states and the race a dead heat in others, Mr. Romney’s lack of a full-throttle media campaign is risky, especially as he struggles to get his message out over the din of news about his campaign’s recent setbacks.

I just saw my forth Obama ad in a span of half an hour..in LOS ANGELES..yeah here in looney liberal los angeles I am being bombarded with Obama ads..why? He already has this state won(Or does he?) why waste money and air time in a state he already has in the bag..maybe his internal polls show differently

Prolly Ozero trying prop up the overall national vote tally versus the electoral numbers so he can claim the election was stolen. Bush v. Gore 2000, only worse.

I, too, am in greater Los Angeles, but we don’t watch network telly, so we have not seen Ozero ads.

That would make sense, that way Obama can say due to the Voter ID laws the election was stolen from him..because I can’t think of another reason why I see CONSTANT Obama Ads here. First it was the Clinton for Obama Ads, starting today Im seeing this new one with Obama at first saying “Im Barack Obama and I approve this message” than it plays some clips of Romney then Obama talking about how he’s for the middle class and how Romney wants to help out the rich(Who make 250,000 and up, gee who knew that was rich these days)..the Ads are not on the local channels, but on the cable ones, dont know if that makes any difference

Wait till October and the debates...I think it is all a waste of time....go to the battleground states and use local media....

I think Romney’s internal polling shows he is in very good shape. I think all of these BS polls by the media are just made to make Republicans feel depressed so they won’t show up to the polls. Romney doesn’t look like a guy who thinks he is going to lose. In fact I just read how Romney and Ryan will embark on a bus tour starting on Monday throughout Ohio, does that sound like a campaign that thinks that they have lost Ohio I dont think so

Could it be Obama ads are falling on deaf ears, and the Romney campaign will only spend where it sees it needs to?

About 6 months year ago, I remember reading several anecdotal stories on FR how some Freeper would be in a sport bar type of restaurant with a TV going. Zero would come on the tube and people would stop eating and watch for 1 minute and then return to eating and talking. It was very telling that people are sick and tired of the lying devil and "have heard it all before".

I’m in NH on vacation this week & I’ve seen Romney TV ads on day & night. He’s at least 50/50 on TV time with Obama. He’s also running ads on the radio non-stop.
