If in that "the 47% dependent upon government" he included the myriad of underworked overpaid unionized government workers at all levels, then he might be correct.
Read carefully what he said, he is correct. He never said 47% of Americans are dependent on government. He said 47% of the vote is locked in for Obama (I'd estimate more like 40-45 myself) and then he went on to list the various segments, of which many (but not all) from each are included in that group. While his statement was open to misinterpretation (and hence, "inarticulate"), a careful reading makes his intent clear.

You know what the real shame is??? Social conservatism cuts a swath through that 47% that he claims he cannot reach. But he has shunned social conservatism. So they just gravitate to the one who benefits them economically — and that’s not Mitt.
