Took the SCAR 17 (.308 WIN) out today to check the scope @ 100 yards.
My first round jammed and look what happened. The next 59 rounds cycled just fine. I was using the Winchester 147gr FMJ White Box ammo and I've read it has had some problems. The Range Officer freaked out kinda. He said he's never seen not only the round bottleneck flatten out but also lip over on the side. Not sure you can tell from the pic but it's really Fluked up.
I wonder if there was an obstruction of some kind or the bolt carrier jammed it inside the receiver? Either way it worked like a charm after. Every shot hit the paper including the foul.
Peculiar, but I would not worry about it.
Got a pic of the other extracted shells?
My CETMES AND VEPR are hell on brass.
Yikes. I’ve never had one of my AR-10s do that. Sounds like there wasn’t any damage to the carrier or receiver if the other rounds went out fine.
You didn’t have a stinkbug (Halyomorpha halys) hiding in there, did ya? They’re all over the damned place, now.
If you have some left, check and see if any of the bullets are loose.
Your SCAR is actually 7.62x51mm NATO, not .308 Winchester.
