By your logic, we should only send Muslim ambassadors to Muslim countries, since Muslims have a habit of persecuting Christians in their countries. Obviously, if this guy was flaunting his homosexuality, then that would obviously be stupid foreign policy. But, simply sending someone who happens to be gay (if, in fact, he actually is - seems like a rumor to me, at this point) does not seem to be relevant, diplomatically speaking.
My point is that you do not intentionally add fuel to a fire.. It is a fact that homosexuals hold a special place in the hatred of the muslim world. It is a fact that muslims consider women to be less than men.
It is therefore stupid and poor diplomacy to send such as representatives if we send anyone at all.
As I stated earlier, my preference is pull out, take our money with us and nuke them if they interfere/attack us or our interests.
