It was always my understanding the foriegn aid to Egypt was to ensure they would not interfere, or attack Isreal. They lived up to that in the past. Now, they are actively rhetorically attacking Isreal and have promised military backing for other Arab nations if they need it. So why are we giving them money if they have reneged?

Exactly.

The House should be able to pass a retraction of the payments to Egypt. I believe this is a case where Reid would be compelled to bring it before the Senate for a vote because there's so much anger.

The country is clamoring for a response that has a punitive, retaliatory flavor. The Dem Senators up for reelection would be compelled to vote in favor of retracting the Egypt payments, IMHO.

An Obama veto would guarantee losing the Presidency.

Rock. Hard place.
