“The scandal here is breathtaking, and all the media, including Fox News is doing a terrible job of reporting the facts behind this heinous attack.”
It really is. We are getting carpet bombed with what Mitt said while the administration refuses to fill in the blanks. Failed rescue mission? Attacked by mortars? Etc.
I can’t help but contrast this with the post Osama raid WH briefings. They were happy to leak all sorts of info on live TV about the Osama raid hours after it went down. Now we get nada here and the presstitutes provide a smoke screen for the WH. Disgraceful.

Where were the Marine guards?.... At their posts, in the Embassy. According to Military regulations.

It is the practice..in hairy places..to use private contractors to protect our Consulate and Embassy's. US citizens with TS clearances and usually former SF,Seals or Leo's. That way they can go to work with minimal training.
They protect our diplomats inside and outside the Embassy.
Plus they hire locals to protect the perimeter..and maybe the front gate. Unfortunately, once on site these contractors have little time for training or maintaining their skills.
Plus..they are usually short the numbers needed. The State Dept has it's own permanent DS people, but doesn't assign them to the bad places except for supervision. They couldn't keep people if they had to send them to the hell holes. Marines are only present at the Embassy..not the Consulates Why they haven't announced the other casualty..don't know. It also sounds like some Marines that were flown it were wounded or killed. No accounting there.

Karl Rove just repported this--about the "lock and key" being the only "security" at the Consulate. He is PISSED!
And--unlike some Pubs--he does not criticize Romney for his remarks. Instead, he pointed out that when he was caampaigning for president, Obama was critcizing Bush for deaths in Afgahnistan under his watch.

WHERE IS THE MSM ON THIS STORY?
“* U.S. rescue mission to Benghazi hit by ‘professional’ ambush”
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/12/libya-ambassador-battle-idUSL5E8KCMYB20120912
(snip) “Speaking of the rescue mission, he said: “A team of commandos arrived by air and went to a farm which we thought was a secret location. Once they got there, they came under heavy fire from heavy machineguns, rocket-propelled grenades and automatic rifles, which resulted in the death of two others.”
He estimated that a dozen or more Americans were hurt.”(snip)

Fire up the electronic signature machine and hit the links.
Within hours, a real President, such as Bush or Reagan, would have personally visited the families. Obama heads for the desert casinos, leaving behind a vacuous mini speech.

Condolences to this man’s family, and those of the other murder/torture victims. I simply cannot imagine the grief that they must be undergoing at present - and I just lost my father 3 months ago.
I’d like to know how many ragheads died or were wounded by the security detail in Benghazi. I will be infuriated if it is zero (which would, IMHO, be Zero’s fault). You ALWAYS make them pay a price for hurting you at the moment, and afterwards, as well. Not holding my breath waiting for Zero to do anything.

The consulate was clearly not secured properly. Evacuating roughly 40 Americans shows it was not a small time visa issuing operation. I would guess that is more personel than many embassies have.
They will try to pin it on the dead guy but this goes back to Foggy Bottom at a minimum. I am also very interested in the NSC involvement in these incidents.

Not at all. Any marine corps infantry squad would have been enough. They would still be carrying off the islamitist bodies from the carnage right now.
The State Department DSS didn't even have light machine guns. They failed.
Twenty to thirty jihadist would be sandbags after the initial show of force.
