If you were worried, I'm pretty strongly against Islamic terrorists. Not sure what point you're making -- I'd still rather be in Turkey, Israel or the United States than DR Congo.
The standard stations used in the rest of the world wouldn't work there ~ the termites would eat out the bottoms while the fungus ate the tops and corrosion would eat up all the metal in just months.

What the UN weather guys worked up looked useable by even illiterate people over a long period of time, although they planned on using folks who could read and write to do the marks on the score sheets.
Then the civil war took a dive ~ supplies were low and the troops were starving. One of the existing radio sonde stations was attacked and the attendants were eaten!
After that the UN people couldn't get any of the locals to touch weather station equipment of any kind.
Eventually James Hansen at NASA just gave up and deleted Africa AND South America from the climatological data bases used for those infamous UN runaway greenhouse models!
