That’s what they worship.
Going back deep into the Old Testament, the Jews have had a hard time figuring out who their friends are - ever since they turned away from the God of their fathers. But they do have a Friend. His name is Jesus, the Messiah, and sometime in the near future they will realize this and come to Him. Israel will then fulfill God’s plan for them from the very beginning - proclaim the name of Jesus to the whole world. They will die for it, but will be greatly honored in Heaven.
