Where to begin. Before government benefit programs there was a vast network of religious and secular helping agencies that dealt directly with poverty and need. These have largely been supplanted by government mandated programs creating a diminishing of caring for and about those in need.
The one size fits all notion of dealing with human deprivation has reduced our ability to respond appropriately to individuals in crisis. We now keep them in perpetual crisis by providing a modicum but not a sufficiency of help to overcome their crisis. This is the nature of oppression, to maintain the conditions that create suffering.
The rest you will have to figure out for yourself. I can not do all your work for you.
As to the writer’s historical analogues there are, in a word, misrepresented.

Where to begin.

At my first question, then answer each in order.

You are NOT going to get off this thread with rhetorical "wand waving."

Count on it.

so, you believe that the younger, 3-4th generation of welfare expectations are going to suddenly be trumped by a show of humanitarianism from a guy like you ???

go back and watch that LA riot vid, and listen to those firefighters recall being shot up, by people whose bellies were full, for the sheer meanness of it...

tell it to reginald denny...

make no mistake, a few 'bad apples' in any demographic, dont implicate the whole, but the God fearing folks, who seek to better themselves by hard work and peseverence, will be the first to starve, because the thugs will seize the opportunity to get their food and goodies at best, up to and including 'payback' for all their perceived injuries that have been indoctrinated to then from birth...

that small percentage of hungry hate will spread to others who are hungry, in this scenario...just as it did over the rodney king verdict, which in reality didnt personally affect these thugs in the least...

tell ya what, put on a nice suit and some bling, and go 'downtown' at dark-thirty and report back in the morning if ya can still breath...

even better example, I worked with a black guy awhile back, and we were doing a job down in the hood, and he even stated that he wouldnt go into that hood after dark, because even tho he shared the pigment, he didnt belong and was fair game for violence...

now, dont forget to call me a racist when you blindly squeal that the history of man and mobs is irrelevent in todays compassionate culture of oprah...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2927368/posts...a great example of urban youth, with full bellies, ramping up and celebrating violence towards each other...i doubt a lily white referee would last 10 seconds once he stepped between them and their idolization of self...
