If Rove or I say something stupid, we sound stupid. Maybe embarrass our mothers and kids, but thats about it. Rove has a national audience thanks to people like Sean Hannity. When he says something stupid, it's not only news, it can affect votes. You and I don't have that kind of audience.
In a just political world, this would lead to a broader discussion of why social conservatives are no longer welcome at the GOP table.

I suspect the GOPe is hoping that when the GOP loses both house and senate in the next election cycle, we'll have forgotten about the purge.

If Rove’s opinions get stupid enough, he’ll lose his Fox job. That’s a business decision. It’s OK with me if he speaks his mind and FReepers don’t agree with him. That’s the beauty of the first amendment.
I have no problem with free expression, and really have no use for party-line hacks. I’d rather hear a heartfelt opinion, even if I disagree with it, than scripted spin.
Maybe I’m just in the decreasing minority of voters who don’t mind thinking.
