Akin misspoke and apologized. Rove did not misspeak, he meant to say it. Rove wants Akin punished, why shouldn’t he be held to that same standard?
Akin was not joking, he was quasi-mistaken.
Rove on the other hand was serious about killing Akin’s political career by illustrating his point with a jest about actually killing him.
