I believe that it might have gotten out of hand. I believe that the thrust for the change STARTED to squelch Paultards, but that some of the most Elite of the Ruling Elite Republicans saw a chance to take it way too far.

I believe it went out of control. And I believe it was orchestrated by Rove, Sununu, and Boehner.
