For my part I found it painful, moreso because I know this is a tier 1 veteran actor/director, and expected a smoother delivery.So.... you missed the subtleties as well ?
I had the same problem. I thought it was Clint having problems staying on focus. It wasn't. He was imitating Obama's tendency to wander and blather. Try listening to it again, and maybe you'll see he knew exactly what he was saying and doing.
As I said on another thread, Eastwood was mimicking Obama's speech patterns, and the MEDIA proclaimed Eastwood was acting like he was demented (feeble minded). What does that tell ya ?

WOW! Thank you for the perspective! Now I appreciate Mr. Eastwood’s speech/performance even more than previously.

Yes, I did. I admit it.
I cannot really compare it to Obama's presentation, as I purposefully avoid hearing more than soundbites of the man since the '08 primaries. Most of my info comes from reading on FR. My only audio feeds are from Rush Limbaugh and (I admit it) an occasional NPR "news" story.
I haven't seen a lot of Eastwood movies ... Pale Rider, For a Few Dollars More and Escape from Alcatraz (which I saw because Patrick McGoohan was in it).
I will say one thing for picking Eastwood, he is one of the very few VERY white guys that the homeboys admire (at least his movie persona). No one would say that Eastwood isn't cool.
