Part of the genius in the use of the imaginary Obama was that Eastwood didn’t want us to see the chair as empty. This enabled him to correctly depict Obama’s reaction to being criticized.

And by implication...

“Go f#@k yourself Catholic Church”.

and I noticed he didnt have to actually use those words..just implied.
