I never saw the movie.. it sounds like savage is right though based upon the description of the movie contents.
I did see the Iwo Jima movie. Effective use of both sides’ letters. The Japanese general, in real life, was an interesting person.
Personally I find Savage's incessant gasconade (talk in a self-admiring way, says my trusty Windows 3.1 American Heritage) -- I recall a insufferable bore in grade, middle, and high school (we called him Champ).
Yes they all do it and it's borrring. Savage is the worst since Arthur Godfrey (though I cannot cite specifics about Godfrey except it's just a general impression that has been with me since those days). Maybe it's part how he fired Julius Larosa, on air, after he sang; Godfrey told him "That was your swan song. Get lost" or something like that. You see, Godfrey ordered his staff to take dance lessons on their own time or something like it and Larosa refused.
