This decision may finally allow a reasonable possibility of overturning the Voting Rights Act under the Equal Protection Clause. Citizens of Texas and other states subject to the Voting Rights Act are being held to a different standard than citizens of non covered states.

the law imposes "strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor" and noted that racial minorities in Texas are more likely to live in poverty.

regardless of the state in which they reside, if the poor are receiving public assistance they have to have an ID. Why is that ID requirement not an unforgiving burden thus any different with respect to being a burden when requiring a voter ID? We all know the answer, VOTE FRAUD. The judges ruling defies logic so I presume they got the word from the WH and Chicago to rule against the law or else.

Hell, Texas should follow the Obama lead. Just say screw it. We will do whatever we decide and you can take us to court...britches.

Apparently I’m stupid. Everytime I vote in Tennessee I am asked for my ID. Why can’t they do that in Texas?

It is time for Texas to start ignoring the courts.

FEDERAL COURT REJECTS TX VOTER ID LAW

Attorney General Eric Holder released the following statement on the court’s ruling:

“The court’s decision today and the decision earlier this week on the Texas redistricting plans not only reaffirm – but help protect – the vital role the Voting Rights Act plays in our society to ensure that every American has the right to vote and to have that vote counted.
